Paul continues his admonition to the Church of Corinth about who to associate with and he turns his attention to legal matters. He warns them of dealing with courts outside the church and tells them in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11, “Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, will inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you. But you were washed, but you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God.”
Even though Paul’s words were speaking directly about litigation matters in the early church, those words are pertinent today in that we need to think carefully before taking matters to someone of the world to deal with matters we have with fellow believers. We are always better off dealing with true believers that follow Christ than with those Paul mentioned because of their standing with the Lord. However, as Paul admonished, we need to deal in the way Jesus would have us deal to take care of ourselves.
Blessings to all
