Jesus had further encounters with people at the temple and He told them of Jerusalem’s destruction that will come. He also told of the conditions we will face at the end of times. He went on to warn us in Luke 21:36 by saying, “Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
Jesus had told of the destruction of Jerusalem by Gentiles and this proved to be true starting in A.D. 66 when the Jews were stressed to the breaking point. They rejected the Romans and a riot resulted with the Romans leaving, but only for a short while. They came back in force, and by A.D. 70, launched their final assault when they destroyed the city and its temple, and forced the Jews to leave.
Thus, when we read that Jesus’ prophesy of Jerusalem came true within their generation, why on earth should we reject His prophesy of the world’s destruction in our generation? We shouldn’t; not only that, we need to pray and be ready so we are not caught off guard. We can’t be weighed down with things that will prevent us from seeing the Lord when He comes.
Blessings to all
