Reflections from March 4, 2010

Today is a simple verse found in Hebrews 3:13, "but exhort one another daily, while it is called "Today," lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin."

The writer encourages us to keep a heart of God toward one another, lifting each other up so that we can help others avoid sin. Many times I've heard that Christians bury their wounded meaning they can be very harsh toward one another. Pride is generally what gets in the way and causes problems, so by keeping a heart toward God, and provide strong encouragement towards our brothers and sisters in Christ, then we'll avoid the trappings of pride, and the bitterness it can cause.

From Proverbs 4:7 we read, "Wisdom is the principal thing; Therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding."

Solomon knows the heart of men. We want to get, get, get and the more we have, the more we want to get. He reminds us that while we're out going after all this stuff, the main thing we need to get is wisdom. Because without it, we'll soon find that all that stuff is pretty much useless.

Blessings to all
