Reflections from February 1, 2010

Today's New Testament verse is Acts 8:34, "...See, here is water. What hinders me from being baptized?"

That's a great question that can be expanded just a bit. What hinders me from serving God? What hinders me from being faithful? What hinders me from preaching about Jesus? Really, there's nothing external that hinders me, it's internal that gets in the way; whether it's pride, fear, or other reasons, we need to be more like the eunuch and "Just do it"!

As with Friday's, Monday has 2 chapters from Proverbs. The first is Proverbs 31:11, "The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain."

I, like many of my colleagues, have been blessed with a virtuous woman to be my wife. I trust her explicitly knowing that she always has as her desire, only good things for me. I trust her judgement, her actions and her heart. I have grown confident of our partnership knowing whatever our action or task is, it will be OUR best, not just our individual best.

Our second verse is Proverbs 1:33, "But whoever listens to me will dwell in safely, And will be secure, without fear of evil."

Having wisdom of knowledge always removes fear of the unknown. Preparation helps develop the knowledge, wisdom tells you to prepare. By taking in Solomon's wisdom on a daily basis, we'll be better prepared for the challenges of daily life, and meet them in a way that doesn't leave us quivering in fear.

Blessings to all.
