Reflections from January 29, 2010

Today's New Testament verse is Acts 7:59, "Look! I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God."

Now that's being close to God! By establishing a close, personal relationship with the Lord, we'll be able to see Him as well when we enter into His presence whether it's through our daily prayer, quiet time, or whatever means we use to build our personal relationship with Him.

On Friday's, there are 2 chapters for reading in Proverbs, so the first is from Proverbs, 29:20, "Do you see a man hasty in his words? There is more hope for a fool than for him."

I can't count the number of times I've said something and immediately knew I wanted to grab those words and return them to my mouth, wishing I never uttered them. When we speak without thinking, we can hurt others very deeply, we can be seen as very unwise, but the worst, we can be seen as un-Christlike.

Proverbs 30:8 provides personal guidance, "Remove falsehood and lies from me; ... Feed me with the food allotted to me;" The reflections of Agur are most likely repoeated by many of us. The simple things in life he requested allowed him to be filled with contentment. We should pray daily for God to meet our needs, thank Him when He does, and be happy with what He provides in our life.
