Reflections from January 28, 2010

Today's New Testament notable verse is from Actx 6:3, "Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business;"

The apostles showed great wisdom in how they chose these additional men to assist them for helping with distribution to widows, and it's my prayer that I can be found to be worthy of choosing; one who is full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom.

The verse in Proverbs for me is Proverbs 28:14, "Happy is the man who is always reverent, But he who hardens his heart will fall into calamity."

It's easy to think negative thoughts about life with all the pressures we face. But those negative thoughts can easily lead me us to believing that God is against me. By keeping in His word on a regular basis, by staying in prayer with Him on a daily basis, by retiring to our "secret place" to be with God, we can keep our heart and our mind in a reverent condition and stay close to God. This may not prevent bad things, but it will help prevent us from doing it to ourselves.
