Reflections from November 26, 2010

In his short letter to Jewish Christians, Jude exposes false teachers that were infiltrating the early church. Not by name, but he compares them to notable violators of God's trust from the Old Testament.

Jude's letter is relevant to us today, to be on guard against false doctrine, or at least incorrect teachings. We must strive to keep the witness of God's word pure and holy.

But Jude didn't ignore the faithful; he gave words of encouragement as written in Jude 20-21, "But you, beloved, building yourselves up o n your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life."

So keep growing with the Lord as you continue in your walk with Him. And remember the lesson that Jude gives us; no matter how close you are with God, you can still fall away if you let down your guard.

Blessings to all
