Reflections from October 19, 2010

Jesus confronts the Pharisees who accuse Him of breaking the Sabbath when He heals a crippled man on that day. Not only did He remind them that His Father God has done much work, but Jesus has as well. Jesus went on to say in John 5:24, "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgement, but has passed from death into life."

AS with most things, Jesus made the requirements for life very simple. Here, He says that all one needs to do is believe. He didn't say believe and say a certain prayer every day; He didn't say believe and tell someone in a little box what sin you committed; he didn't say believe and give money to a religion; he didn't say believe and follow these rules and regulations. All He said was to believe in Him who sent Jesus and you will receive everlasting life.

What a simple thing to do, but what profound consequences! To have at my hand, the ability to live with the Father and with Jesus for eternity, simply by believing that He came to earth to be born as a man, to set an example, and to die for my sins and for that, I turn my life to Him as my Lord and Saviour. I now have His promise of being with him in glory. I hope you do too. If not, I urge you to pray quickly and tell Jesus, "Lord I know that I am a sinner, and that without you I am nothing. I give you my life today, and ask that you give me a new life, one that is filled with joy, peace and hope. I ask that You be my Lord and Savior, and that You guide and direct me in my footsteps through life. I ask to be buried with You in my old life, and raised to walk in the newness of life. It's in Your name I pray, Amen.

Blessings to all
