Today we read about Jesus' encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well. They engage in conversation about water from the well and Jesus tells her of the water of everlasting life when He says in John 4:13-14, "Jesus answer and said to her, 'Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.'"
In the course of the conversation, the woman did not understand at first Jesus was NOT talking about the water in the well. She started thinking it would be great to never be thirsty again. Jesus knew this, and quickly turner her around to be able to understand the living water that He was speaking of. Spending time with Jesus has a way of making you thirst after spiritual things, and the Samaritan woman was no different. Once she understood that Jesus was speaking of her salvation and how to achieve it, she knew she wanted it. It most likely became her "aha" moment and things in her life sort of rolled out in front of her. And because she knew where she had been, and because she knew that Jesus was aware of her past, she believed that He truly had the living water that brings forth everlasting life, and came to understand this in a spiritual way.
What's your "aha" moment in which you realize that Jesus has the living water leading to everlasting life? It starts with a close, intimate encounter with Jesus and giving him the opportunity to speak to you in terms that are relevant to you. Don't block any opportunity for Jesus to speak with you and offer spiritual insight for you, just as He did for the Samaritan at the well.
Blessings to all
