Today we resume reading and look at Paul's words in 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, "And He said, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecution, in distresses, for Christ's sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong."
Everywhere we look, we see people and things boasting about their strength; in advertisements about cars or businesses, people about their strength, athletes and their teams, political strength of politicians and political parties, and military strength. So Paul's words are a bit of a dichotomy. When we think of God using us, we imagine He uses us in the area of our strengths, and most typically in the area of our spiritual gifts. But what if He uses us in the area of our weakness? We're reminded of Moses, and the fact that he was a poor speaker. However, God used Moses to be the spokesman for all of Israel, and he spoke to Pharaoh to release His people. Peter was known to be short-tempered, but God chose him to be the first leader of the early church.
Weakness has a way of making us rely on God far more than our strengths do. God can use you through this weakness to do mighty things if you show Him that you are willing to rely fully and completely on Him.
Blessings to all
