With the promise that God will dwell among us fresh on our mind, we can take heart in Paul's words of 2 Corinthians 7:1, "Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God."
It's because of God's promises that Paul wants the Corinthians to set themselves apart from others and to cleanse themselves. We are to do the same, not out of fear of God, but out of reverence and awe of God. Not only do we owe this to ourselves, but we owe it to God because He is faithful and just.
