Reflections from August 27, 2010

We are reminded of the value of our actual body and the importance of moral living because of Paul's words in 2 Corinthians 6:16 where he says, "For you are the temple of the living God. As God has said: 'I will dwell in them And walk among them. I will be there God, And they shall be My people.'"

For Paul and other Christians of his day, temples were considered a very holy place, where one would not want to see anything immoral enter there to defile it. Paul wants us to believe the same thing about ourselves and the body of believers that we associate with; it is a holy temple where God resides and we should prevent it from becoming defiled with anything unclean, immoral, unhealthy, and so on. Since God resides in us, we must protect the cleanliness and holiness of His temple with every effort possible.

Wouldn't you clean your house for visitors coming over for dinner? Shouldn't we do even more for the God of all gods that is coming to dwell within us?

Blessings to all
