Reflections from July 28, 2010

Today we finish Luke with an accounting of The Great Commission as stated in Luke 24:46-47, "Then He said to them, 'Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.'"

So, Jesus tells His disciples to go and preach throughout all the nations. This is still our commission today. We are enjoying the benefits of the New Covenant with God, so it stands to reason that we should be responsible for this work as believers and followers of Christ. But, it's not with only a sense of duty that we do this, it's with a joy in our hearts, and with a sense of urgency. The joy comes from obeying Christ, and the urgency comes from knowing that Jesus can return at any moment, or that our friends or loved ones can die at any time. And if either of these happen without them knowing Jesus and making Him Lord over their lives, then they will not know the joy of Heaven as we will.

So GO and PREACH! Let the world know of Jesus and what He can do for them.

Blessings to all
