Reflections from June 3, 2010

Today we finish Romans and the in-depth teachings of Paul to them. One final tidbit of advice is given in Romans 16:17 where he says, "Now I urge you brethren, note those who cause divisions and offenses, contrary to the doctrine which you learned, and avoid them."

This is where the wisdom of Solomon comes in handy, because in the next verse, Paul states that the smooth words and flattering speech if these people will deceive the hearts of the simple. So by staying firmly rooted in God's Word, and by studying it to bring it to our heart and mind, we'll be able to discern wrong teachings from right and avoid those who are misleading, sometimes by ignorance, other times by deceit.

In Proverbs 3:3 we read, Let not mercy and truth forsake you; Bind them around your neck, Write them on the tablet of your heart."

Just as stated above for Romans, we need God's truth in our hearts. I like how Solomon says it, "Write them on the tablet of your heart." I would use ink if I were you. Let it be there permanently. With God's truth, and mercy, we'll be sure to live in His favor, and with His protection.

Blessings to all
