Today we read of beautiful actions on our part that lead to wonderful outcomes in Romans 10:9-10, "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confessions is made unto salvation."
A few words really stand out here; "confess the Lord Jesus" is to say that Jesus is Lord over us, and we submit to Him and His will in our life. "believe" is an act of faith on our part that God miraculously raised Jesus from the grave and He lives today reigning in Heaven as Lord. Then "you will be saved" which is what will give us eternal life with Jesus. Very simple actions on our part, to believe and confess. But what a result! Being with the Lord forever! With the heart we get the righteousness and as we grow with God, His righteousness becomes more prominent in our life. Then we begin to confess the Lord to others more and more, wanting them to have what we have as well.
From Proverbs 26:18-19 we read, "Like a madman who throws firebrands, arrows and death, Is the man who deceives his neighbors, And says, "I was only joking!'"
This is a personal struggle of mine, that is, to not be a jokester. Most of the time, the only person who sees the humor is me, and that ends up making me look like the fool. Also, I have tried to joke with my daughter on things, and she'll believe me, so I have to explain to her how I was just kidding and everything ends up discombobulated. So, Solomon's words are really best; do not joke by deceiving, and then say "Oops, sorry!" You'll be wiser for it.
Blessings to all
