Today we see how others have viewed promises of God and read in Romans 4:20-21, "[Abraham] did not waver at the promise of God through unbelief, but was strengthened in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully convinced that what He had promised He was also able to perform."
Do you believe that God can be depended on to honor His promises? All of us rely on the promises of others, almost every day. Vendors promise to deliver products or services, project teams promise to deliver results by certain dates, and companies promise to stand behind their products with satisfaction guaranteed. Do we believe these promises? If so, then how much more we can trust the promises of God who never fails!!
And being a Christian, we should also be viewed as trustworthy and reliable. When we give our word, we need to fulfill it. When we make a commitment, we need to honor it. When we enter into a contract, we need to abide by it. To do otherwise brings dishonor and discredit to God.
Proverbs 18:18 gives us good instruction about settling disputes where it reads, "Casting lots causes contentions to cease, And keeps the mighty apart."
The point here is that the "mighty" typically have a lot of ego, and the only way to settle a difference between people with big egos is to vote on it. People tend to agree to the outcome of a vote, if they believe it was done in a fair manner. Voting, or casting lots, can also bring honor to God provided the activity is done with prayer and in by giving the results over to God. Remember, the apostles voted on who the new apostle would be to replace Judas, and they voted and Matthias won (see Acts 1:26).
Give all to God, and let Him direct all your steps, even in the day-to-day activities such as voting.
Blessings to all
