"Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many."
Most of us understand what this is saying as the veil represents the separation of God and mankind. In the Old Covenant, only a high priest could enter into the Holy of Holies and represent us before God who resided with the Ark of the Covenant. But Jesus removed that separation for all of mankind and this was the tearing of the veil.
History shows the veil that was the curtain in Herod's temple would have been nearly 60 feet (18 m) high and 4 inches (100 mm) thick. It was no simple feat for this tearing to have occurred, so it's reasonable to assume that God's hand was in this action. This established a New Covenant with God and is still in effect today.
How many of us could honor a contract for over two thousand years like God has?
Today from Proverbs 11:21 we learn, "Though they join forces, the wicked will not go unpunished; But the posterity of the righteous will be delivered."
God promises us that in His due time, those that practice evil and hurtful, wicked things, will endure His anger and wrath; and will answer to God. Although we may ultimately suffer death due to standing with God, the Bible promises as seen here in Proverbs, that righteousness will prevail and will forever.
That's hard to think about when someone is treating you badly but that is exactly what delivered David from his thoughts when he was persecuted as a young man. He delivered the action over to God, and then his personal anger was gone, knowing the Supreme Judge will take care of the problem. By turning over to God anything to do with judgement and sentencing of those we think wrongs us, our lives will be much more peaceful and pleasant; not only to ourselves, but to all that we associate with.
Blessings to all
