Today in Matthew 3:11 we read, "I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire."
John the Baptist had a ministry that was known far and wide and people came not only to be baptized, but to listen to him. It was because he knew that his strength came from God and it was to be used for divine purposes, thus there was a heavenly draw that got people to want to see and hear him.
Also, Jesus example of being baptized by John shows us that we should accept people as they are; that is, embrace other believers and demonstrate our unity in Christ, no matter if it seems awkward or inconvenient.
In Proverbs 7:21-23 we read, "With her enticing speech she caused him to yield, With her flattering lips she seduced him. Immediately he went after her, as an ox goes to the slaughter, Or as a fool to the correction of the stocks, Till an arrow struck his liver. As a bird hastens to the snare, He did not know it would cost his life."
Here is another way of indicating how serious it is to commit adultery; unfortunately, the person in this example was unaware of the danger. Exodus 20:14 places adultery right after murder as a sin to avoid by commandment of God.
Also, it could easily cost us our physical life; the seductress could actually kill one for money, or the husband could come home unexpectedly and kill out of jealousy. Solomon's words of wisdom are definitely life saving to us.
Blessings to all
