Today we read in Matthew 19:26, "With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."
This statement from Jesus was in response to the disciples query regarding who can be saved. Jesus had just had an encounter with a man of wealth who wanted to know what he lacked in order to be saved. His sorrow was great when Jesus said to sell all he has, give it to the poor and come and follow Him. He did not want to give up what he had accumulated. Jesus knows our greed and desire to collect stuff; it makes us feel important. That's why He said in vs. 24, "...it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God."
We need to be cautious that we don't place more value on our possessions than on God. Otherwise, we'll end up just like the young man who lacked entry into the Kingdom.
From Proverbs 29:14 we read, "The king who judges to poor with truth, His throne will be established forever."
While I'm not a "king", I do think this has application in our lives today as parents. If we have authority over our household with truth and with God, we will enjoy the fruits of our family for generations to come. That's why I want God to be at the center of our family, so He is established as its leader and king forever.
Blessings to all
