Reflections from February 9, 2010

The New Testament verse today is Acts 9:17, "Nevertheless, He did not leave Himself without witness, in that He did good, gave us rain from heaven and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness."

Even though Jesus had departed earth and ascended to heaven, He was still providing for the people of the earth. He rained righteousness on the people and filled them with the fruits of God by using Paul, and the apostles to preach His word. God provides a bounty for us today as well. We have His written word to ponder and fill our soul, we have our church to provide fellowship and teachings, and we have each other to fill our hearts with gladness. God is still very much in our lives providing for us everyday.

Our verse from Proverbs is Proverbs 9:6, "Forsake foolishness and live, And go in the way of understanding."

Just a straight forward, clear, easy to understand message; don't be stupid! As you go through life, do so in a way that cultivates knowledge, understanding and wisdom. Tone down those things that prevent this from happening such as ego, playfulness, pride and what not. When we remember that it's better to remain silent and be thought a fool then to open our mouth and remove all doubt, that's when we are going in the way of understanding.

Blessings to all.
