Reflections from January 15, 2011

I'm posting this on Wednesday the 19th because I was not able to get online until today having been at Riverbend Retreat Center last weekend with out church. Tiny Dominguez gave some great sermons for the youth and many of them heard from God.

While I was away, I kept up and here are my reflections.

Blessings come to Abraham and Isaac as the servent that Abraham sent to bring a wife to Isaac succeeds. The servent reacts to this as shown in Genesis 24:27,

"Blessed be the Lord God of my master Abraham, who has not forsaken His mercy and His truth toward my master."

Not only was Abraham's faithfulness rewarded, but the servent's prayers were answered as well. We would do well to pray for our leaders, or masters too, such as our boss.

After Isaac and Rebekah marry, she becomes pregnant. She learns they are twins when God said in Genesis 25:23,

"Two nations are in your womb, Two peoples shall be separated from your body. One people shall be stronger than the other, and the older shall serve the younger."

As it turned out, from the time of their very birth, Jacob (born second) was holding Esau's heel, as sign of things to come.

We learn in Psalms that God truly is with those who are righteous where it says in Psalms 4:3,

"But know that the Lord has set apart for Himself him who is godly; the Lord will hear when I call to Him."

Blessings to all
