We finish 1 John today with a testimony of God's love and giving of eternal life. In 1 John 5:11-12 he writes, "And this is the testimony: that God has given us eternal life, and this life is in His Son. He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life."
For some people, as they age they get more discouraged about life. They see themselves wearing out, they see there's nothing left to do, they see that no one loves them. They see all sorts of things and might get to the point that there's nothing left to live for. They wouldn't begin to imagine living forever with the body deteriorating and their health going downhill. That's because they don't have the Son of God in their life. With Jesus, even in this world with our body going downhill, we can still relish in the joy of God's promise because we know where we're headed to. And that knowledge leads to abundant joy in our life, and that provides for a quality of life that is full, rich and filled with happiness.
Let God's love through His Son Jesus Christ make your life rich and joyful by accepting Him as your Lord and Savior. We'll see you in Heaven.
