Reflections from August 16, 2010

Today we read the Love Chapter and Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians 13:13, "And now abide in faith, hope, love, these three, but the greatest of these is love."

Paul says there's lots of things that we can be, have, or do, but it's nothing without love. Love is the driver of all our actions, as it was was for Jesus and His actions; especially His final action as a human to die for us.

Chuck Smith in his sermon notes (click here)says that "Faith,Hope and Love" are the three planks of the Christian gospel.

I. A faith that there is a God that exists and is watching out for us.
II. A hope that we will one day be in the presence of our God.
III. A love that binds us together with actions that help our fellow humans.

Without all three planks, it is difficult, if not impossible, to be a Christian.

The greatest of these is love.

Blessings to all
