Reflections from April 14, 2010

In Matthew 8:10 we read, "When Jesus heard it, He marveled, and said to those who followed, "Assuredly, I say to you, I have not found such great faith, not even in Israel."

Jesus' description of the Roman Centurion's faith in His ability to heal a servant without the need to come to his house was a description of great faith. The Centurion knew what Jesus knew, that He could help the person no matter where He was at. This was an indication that the Centurion was a good leader of his people since he displayed his faith in Jesus. Leaders display faith in their people. They also place their trust in their people, and this is what the Centurion did as well. He knew that placing his trust in Jesus, he put it in the right place; in other words, it wasn't blind trust.

We need to exercise our faith and trust; placing them with Jesus will assure we are never let down.

From Proverbs 14:1 we read, "The wise woman builds her house, But the foolish pulls it down with her hands."

Scripture tells us that both parents share responsibility for raising their children and teaching them about the Lord. But there's no question that many of the earliest and most fundamental perceptions and feelings that a child develops about God are largely established by the Mother as a result of her building her house and raising her children on godly premises. We need to ensure all facets of our life have as their foundation godly premises as well.

Blessings to all
