Today Paul gives good information on liberty in Christ and we read in Galatians 5:1, "Stand fast therefore in the liberty to which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage."
Paul is referring to the yoke of bondage that came with the old Mosaic law that the Galatians believed was still necessary to practice to receive salvation. However, by standing with Jesus, we stand with the most liberated man to ever live on Earth. He was free of covetousness, hypocrisy, fear of others, and every other vice that we suffer from. Jesus was free to be Himself, to tell the truth, free to love people with warmth and purity, and free to surrender His life for others.
God make us free to choose our direction in life. By choosing to side with Jesus and walk in the same direction as He does, we will live a life free from the problems that come from living a life of substandard morals and values.
From Proverbs today we read in Proverbs 25:9-10, "Debate your case with your neighbor, And do not disclose the secret to another; Lest he who hears it expose your shame, And your reputation be ruined."
Have you ever had a problem with a neighbor? I have and it rarely does good to take it to court despite what the old TV show, "The People's Court" used to tell us. Solomon is much wiser here. If you take the time to call or go by and face the issue head on, in a civil manner that doesn't attack the person, but deals with the issue, then you're going to come out ahead. I've gone both routes, and Solomon's is best. When you keep it secret from others, it prevents animosity from occurring and everyone can "save face" and maintain civil discord to one another, even extending the olive branch of peace toward one another. Follow Solomon's words of wisdom and just deal with your neighbor directly.
Blessings to all
