Reflections from February 18, 2010

Today we read of Paul's return to Jerusalem and Acts 21:13 says, "What do you mean by weeping and breaking my heart? For I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus."

Paul, in response to the disciples and elders, told them of his commitment to Jesus, not only to die for Him, but to do the works that he set out to do on behalf of Jesus. Our Lord said it would be difficult and Paul knew it; yet he sets out and as the others said in response, "The will of the Lord be done." We will do well to keep this in our hearts and minds as well, to allow the will of the Lord to be be done, no matter what the barriers might be and no matter what the cost might be. For in the end, we will be glorified.

Proverbs 18:10 states, "The name of the Lord is a strong tower, The righteous run to it and are safe."

How appropriate given our verse from Acts! We're encouraged to do God's will no matter the cost, and we then have a promise in the name of Jesus that we'll be safe in His strength. Remember to give thanks to God for His protection in your life.

Blessings to all
