We are still in Acts reading of Paul's travels in Asia and our verse today is Acts 19:4, ""John indeed baptized with a baptism of repentance, saying to the people that they should believe on Him who would come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus."
Paul knew that in the heart of these Ephesians, they believed in Jesus and were truly Christians. However, they had not yet received the joy that comes with the embodiment of the Holy Spirit; so Paul laid hands on them so they would receive It. Likewise, we need to be receptive to the Holy Spirit so we have the full relationship with God, dwelling with Him at all times by Him dwelling in us so our steps are directed in every way, all through the day.
From Proverbs today we have Proverbs 16:3, "Commit your works to the Lord; And your thoughts will be established."
Having just gone through a round of layoffs at my work place, job security seems like an oxymoron. No one is safe from a layoff anymore it seems. God doesn't guarantee employment for us; however, we do get another type of job security from God. We get the confidence that comes from staking our work and our lives on God and His ways, not some other man.
Blessings to all
